I. Introduction of the Research Group

Our group focuses on the development of chemical protein labeling(A), chemical genetic and chemo-optogenetic approaches(B)to facilitate the study of frontier biological questions related to cytoskeleton function; (C) we will be particularly interested in understanding the mechanisms underneath metaphase spindle assembly for error-free chromosome segregation during cell divisionusing the cell-free Xenopus laevis frog (i.e. African clawed frog) egg extract system.At the translational research level, (D) we will be interested torationally designsmall molecule-protein conjugates as potentialtherapeutics to treat diseases that are related togenomic instability, including cancer.So far, we have published some of the research results in high profile journals, includingAngew. Chem. Int. Ed. (2017, 2018),J. Am. Chem. Soc. (2014),Chem. Commun. (2015),Bioconjugate Chem. (2012)and others. More in-depth research results that deal with the molecular mechanisms will be submitted shortly. Published works have been highlighted asVIP paper,Hot Paper,Cover Story, and have been reported by domestic and overseas scientific media in different languages including Chinese, English, German, Swedish and others. The Principal Investigator also wrote a book chapter (Wiley, 2015), and was awarded a European Invention Patent and PCT patent (2019). II. Description of the Open Positions

Responsibilities of postdoc:

Perform independent research supervised under PI

Qualificationsof postdoc candidates:

1.Obtained, or going to obtain a Ph.D. degree in one of the following fields: organic chemistry, chemical biology, protein bioconjugation chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, immune cell therapy, mice genetics, gene editing, or molecular biology;

2.Be self-motivated, hasgood communication skills, and hasa high sense of responsibility and team spirit;

3.Showsa deep interest in chemical biology, or life science, and is capable to perform research works independently under the guidance of PI;

4.Self-motivatedto learn new knowledges from other disciplines;

Responsibilities of technician:

1.Lab managing, ordering, and other daily stuffs;

2.Perform independent research under theguidanceof PI, or work with PI or other members in the group toperform experiments in acollaborativeway.

Qualificationsof technician candidates:

1.Obtained, or going to obtain a M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in chemistry, biology, biomedicine, or related fields. Has a research background related toone of the following fields:organicsynthesis, chemical biology, protein bioconjugation chemistry, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, immunology, mice genetics, gene editing, molecular biology, or related fields;

2.Has a deep interest in chemical biology, or life science, and is capable to perform research works under the guidance of PI;

3.Be self-motivated, hasgood communication skills, and hasa high sense of responsibility and team spirit；

4.Self-motivatedto learn new knowledges from other disciplines;

5.Opportunity to be converted to Ph.D. candidates is provided.

III. How to Apply

We are seeking for 2talentedpostdocs and 2-3 lab technicians. Candidates are expected to have one of the following researchbackground: organic chemistry, protein bioconjugation chemistry, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology,immunecell therapy (e.g. CAR-T), phage display, directed evolution, gene editing, mice genetics, algorithm implementation(e.g. MATLAB, Python, etc.) or related fields, and should have a deep interest in conducting multi-disciplinaryresearch crossing chemistry and life sciences.
