The School of Astronautics has a fine tradition of attaching importance to international exchanges and cooperation. International cooperation and exchanges are positioned at the school’s development goals, adhering to the school’s development strategy, promoting the achievements of the School of Astronautics, creating an atmosphere of the international academy, leading the concept of international education, and exploring the training system of cultivating high-level innovative talents. The approaches of international exchanges and cooperation have increased in both scale and level, achieving a series of substantive results.
The school carries out international exchanges actively, and has established close cooperative relations with more than 20 world-renowned universities, simultaneously bringing in foreign experts. It has 5 Foreign Thousand Talents Program Participants and there are in total 6 foreign teachers/part-time teachers who teach in the school. In the past three years, more than 10 international academic conferences have been hosted, nearly a hundred foreign experts have been hired to give lectures or online lectures, and various conferences such as Harbin International Medical Industry Cross Summit Forum, the seventh International Conference on Smart Materials and Nanotechnology in Engineering, International Symposium on Intelligent Microsystems 2019, International University Student Spacecraft Innovative Design Competition,Technology Forum on Student Micro/nano-satellites have been successfully held. Many international academic conferences have attracted more than 30 scholars and professors from more than 10 countries such as the United States, Britain, Japan, Russia, including the Nobel Laureates in Physiology and Medicine, Thomas Huderhoff, which has increased the school's international influence in related fields. Academician Du Shanyi and Professor Leng Jinsong received the honorary title of WORLD FELLOW by International Committee on Composite Materials. Academician Du Shanyi was the first Chinese scientist to receive this honor. Professor Leng Jinsong and Professor Gao Huijun served as academicians of the Academia Europaea and Professor Gao Huijun was elected as the vice-chairman of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. Professor Wu Ligang was elected IEEE Fellow, and more than 20 professors including Professor Gao Huijun and Professor Zhang Lixian were selected as the globalHighly Cited Researcher list. There are 146 faculties of the school serve as heads of international academic organizations, international authoritative conferences, international program committees, and the editorial board members of international journals, which has further consolidated the school’s international academic leading voice and international status. The school has vigorously strengthened the construction of National Subject Innovation and Talents Introduction Plan(“111”Talents Introduction Base). The school has established theBase for Introducing Talents for “Aerospace technology innovation” and the Base for Introducing Talents for “Analysis and Control innovation of Networked Dynamic Systems”, and actively established the international talent database to update the information of overseas outstanding talents. There are 141 teachers in the school who have obtained doctoral degrees overseas or have gone overseas for exchanges. Every year, an average of about 30 students go to study abroad in well-known universities. In response to the national the Belt and Road initiative, the school has fully utilized the traditional cooperative relations with Russia and Ukraine and taken geographical advantages, establishing close relationships with first-class institutions such as the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and Samara State Aerospace University.
The school adheres to the principles of cooperation and exchange in international affairs, improving teachers’ international competitiveness and educational level through academic, technical exchanges and bilateral visits, expanding students’ international horizons, enhancing students’ international communication capabilities, and promoting cooperation of multi-direction and multi-channel with high-level partners to better serve the aerospace industry.
